Manufacturer Warranty
Homes and Domes Victoria Pty Ltd ("Homes & Domes", "we", "us") provides a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship in the structural frame, expansion mechanism, cladding, windows, doors, and factory-installed fittings of your expandable cottage.
The warranty period and specific terms are detailed in your purchase agreement. The warranty commences from the date of delivery and installation.
Structural Components
The warranty covers the galvanised steel frame, structural connections, welding, and the expansion mechanism against defects in materials and workmanship.
Structural warranty does not cover damage caused by improper foundations, unauthorised modifications, relocation without professional disconnection, or forces exceeding design loads (including flooding, seismic activity, or extreme wind events beyond specified ratings).
Fixtures and Fittings
Factory-installed fixtures including windows, doors, kitchen cabinetry, bathroom fittings, and electrical components are covered against manufacturing defects.
Appliances (where included) may carry their own manufacturer warranties. We will pass on all manufacturer warranty documentation where applicable.
Cosmetic issues such as minor scratches, colour variation, or surface imperfections visible only under specific lighting conditions are not considered defects unless reported within 14 days of delivery.
Cosmetic Issues
Cosmetic defects include surface finish imperfections, paint or coating blemishes, and minor alignment issues that do not affect the structural integrity or function of the cottage.
Cosmetic issues must be reported within 14 days of delivery. After this period, cosmetic wear is considered normal and is not covered under warranty.
Installation Work
Where Homes & Domes carries out the installation, the installation work itself is covered against defects in workmanship for the period stated in your purchase agreement.
Installation warranty does not cover issues arising from site conditions including ground subsidence, foundation failure, or inadequate site preparation that was the customer's responsibility.
Owner Maintenance Responsibilities
To maintain warranty coverage, the owner must:
- Follow the maintenance guide provided with the cottage
- Keep the expansion mechanism lubricated and serviced as recommended
- Maintain exterior seals and weatherproofing
- Ensure adequate drainage around the cottage to prevent water ingress
- Arrange annual inspection of structural connections if the cottage is relocated
- Not modify, alter, or add to the structure without prior written approval
Failure to perform reasonable maintenance may void warranty coverage for affected components.
Notification Periods for Claims
Warranty claims must be notified to Homes & Domes as soon as the defect is discovered. Contact our team on (03) 4804 6038 or email sales@homesanddomes.com.au with your purchase details and a description of the issue.
Photos should be included where possible. We will assess the claim and arrange an inspection if required within 14 business days of notification.
Access for Inspection
The owner must provide reasonable access to the cottage for inspection by Homes & Domes or our authorised representatives. If access is refused or unreasonably delayed, we may suspend warranty assessment until access is available.
Third-Party Work Exclusions
This warranty does not cover work performed by third parties, including site foundations, utility connections, decking, pergolas, or any modifications made by tradespeople not engaged or approved by Homes & Domes.
Third-party work that causes damage to the cottage or its components is not covered under this warranty.
Relocation Impact on Warranty
Relocation of the cottage may affect warranty coverage. If the cottage is relocated, the expansion mechanism, structural connections, and weatherproofing must be inspected by a qualified professional.
Damage caused during relocation — including by unauthorised transport providers — is not covered. We recommend using our professional relocation service to maintain warranty integrity.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures, you are entitled to a replacement or refund and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The benefits given to you under this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under a law in relation to the goods or services to which the warranty relates.
